Teacher-created videos
In the online high school that I run in the State of Nevada, we face the challenge of motivating students to be engaged and thereby increase their achievement levels. One of the obvious answers to such a challenge is to improve communication with the students in every aspect of the educational experience at our school. Teachers use many tools at their disposal currently to do this including such things as email, course announcements, synchronous online classes, and telephone conversations. Really the overwhelming method is the use of email. I am proposing the use of short and simple teacher-created videos that can be utilized for any number of communication reasons. I have created an online lesson that you may review and asked those who do review it to use this blog to give some of your ideas on how these videos might be taken advantage of in distance education to help increase engagement. Thank you for your responses. I will email those who leave an address all possible answers that I can gather in this blog and in the quiz given through the online lesson.
